Shaped By Passion, Guided By Growth

Established in 2023, the brand began with a hot dog cart serving steamed dumplings. After growing with a trailer and new menu ideas, the team opened a brick and mortar spot in Fall River in 2024.

A Small Start with Big Heart

Bun Buds began as a simple summer project led by two JWU students learning from Chef William Lendway. With only a hot dog cart and rules that allowed boiling and steaming, they chose to serve hot dogs and dumplings. They spent long days rolling the cart through Providence, hoping each stop would help them grow. The steady support from the community shaped the early steps of their journey.

Growing Through Each Season

After a slow start, the team worked with Chef Lendway to turn a pop-up camper into a food trailer. This helped them stand beside larger trucks and reach more people. As the months passed, their menu grew stronger, and so did their confidence. By the end of the season, the small cart that once carried simple ideas had become a project filled with real promise and steady progress.

A Dream Turned Into a Doorway

During his senior year, Jake found a space in Fall River that offered support for new businesses. After months of planning and using new equipment, he opened the restaurant at 10 Purchase Street in June 2024 with help from Chef Lendway and Bret Whartenby. The process was challenging, but each day brought new skills and a sense of pride that made the long hours feel worth it.

The team now serves long hot dogs, dumplings, bao buns, and rice bowls while working hard to keep the experience friendly and calm. They focus on steady service and honest care, welcoming families and regulars who support their growth. Even with long nights and new tasks, Jake stays thankful for his friends, his team, and the community that helped bring the dream to life.
